Starr King School for the Ministry is proud to announce that Charles Clark will serve as our new Vice President of Advancement.
Charles is an experienced fundraising professional with nearly a decade of experience in helping educational institutions and nonprofits achieve their revenue goals. Charles began his fundraising career as Associate Director of Development at North Carolina Central University School of Law, during which time he cultivated gifts totaling more than $5 million each fiscal year. He then served as Director of Gifts for North Carolina Central University, managing the day-to-day operations of gifts and donor relationships for two years. Charles then transitioned from that school to serve as the Annual Giving Director at Shaw University, developing and leading the school’s comprehensive annual fundraising appeal program.
In 2020, after serving in higher education institutions for seven years, Charles served as the Major Gifts Officer at the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, where he was responsible for developing and cultivating major-level gifts from existing and potential donors. Most recently, he served as the Fundraising Director of Easter Seals UCP North Carolina & Virginia, which provides a range of services for children, adults, and families with disabilities. During his tenure at Easter Seals UCP, Charles developed strategic plans and initiatives to help drive the organization’s fundraising efforts. One such initiative resulted in raised and increased individual giving by 90% amongst lapsed donors.
“My passion is to work for and with organizations who stand out in uniqueness, service, community, and love,” said Charles. “I am excited about the awesome work, growth, and engagement ahead. It’s going to be a pleasure working with alumni, friends, family, and supporters of Starr King.”
Charles resides in Raleigh, North Carolina with his wife Adriane and their son Greyson, who turns two in November. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Communications at Saint Augustine University and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in higher education leadership and administration at Southern New Hampshire University, with an expected graduation of December 2023. Charles enjoys singing and all styles of music, and loves to make people laugh and smile.
