Starr King School for the Ministry will be deleting our Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, and Threads accounts on Friday, February 28th due to the egregious actions of the platforms’ CEOs.
The purpose of Starr King being on social media is to create community, to share news and events, to connect and reconnect. But we must acknowledge the role that social media plays in our democracy. Existing in the 21st century requires global interconnection. This tangled web can sometimes lead to complicity in the dismantling of our democracy, or even in causing harm to members of our own beloved community. We must try to renounce complicity whenever and wherever possible. That means removing ourselves from these problematic platforms.
There are still many ways to stay connected to Starr King:
This move off of Meta will include the removal of our private Facebook groups for students, faculty, staff, trustees, and graduates. If you are a current Starr King student, trustee, or faculty/staff member, please join us over in the new Starr King Today group on LinkedIn. If you are a Starr King graduate, we invite you to join us in the new Starr King Graduate Association group on LinkedIn.
We look forward to reconnecting with you in safer spaces.
