Biography

Taya Mâ Shere is a ritual artist embracing embodied, earth-honoring devotion as liberatory spiritual practice. She is Assistant Professor of Organic Multi-Religious Ritual at Starr King School for the Ministry, and co-convenes the House of Dates through SKSM’s Center for Multi-Religious Studies. She is founder of From the Deep, an emergent mystery school of earth, sea and soma, and hosts the acclaimed Jewish Ancestral Healing podcast and The Sarah & Hajar Series: Sacred Practice and Possibility at the Intersections of Judaism and Islam. Taya Mâ teaches online courses in embodied spiritual practice and connecting with luminous ancestral blessing. Taya Mâ co-founded the Kohenet Hebrew Priestess movement, and co-authored The Hebrew Priestess: Ancient and New Visions of Jewish Women’s Spiritual Leadership & Siddur haKohanot: A Hebrew Priestess Prayerbook.  Taya Mâ is co-creator of the Liberate Your Seder Haggadeck and The Omer Oracle. Her Hebrew Goddess chant albums — This Bliss, Wild Earth Shebrew, Halleluyah All Night and Torah Tantrika — have been heralded as “cutting-edge mystic medicine music” and “transmissions which tap into collective memory.”  With Sheikh Dr. Ibrahim Baba Farajaje, SKSM provost of blessed memory, Taya Mâ co-founded a multireligious Jewish and Sufi Muslim spiritual community committed to counter-oppressive devotion – their new album Makam Shekhina is a weaving of Ibrahim Baba’s teachings with their pulsing Hebrew & Arabic prayer. www.taya.ma | @tayatransforms
