Announcing the Rev. Dr. Natalie Maxwell Fenimore Scholarship!

Starr King School for the Ministry is thrilled to announce the creation of the Rev. Dr. Natalie Maxwell Fenimore Scholarship.

This annual scholarship has been established by beloved Starr King supporter Rev. Edward (Ned) Wight for the purposes of honoring the Rev. Dr. Natalie Maxwell Fenimore for longtime service to Unitarian Universalist congregations and institutions, and providing a scholarship to a Starr King student selected at the president’s discretion. We are so grateful to Ned for his incredible generosity.

We asked Ned why he chose to fund this scholarship, and this is what he had to say:

Having had the honor of serving in ministerial leadership with Rev. Dr. Fenimore, I also recognize her invaluable contributions to Unitarian Universalism through Religious Education leadership, service on the Starr King and UUMA Boards, participation in the UUA’s Widening the Circle process, mentoring and nurturing leaders in formation, as well as parish ministry. I am honored to recognize these contributions by initiating a Starr King School for the Ministry scholarship in her name.”

We also asked Natalie to describe her relationship with Ned, and what it means to have this scholarship established in her name:

I am honored to have my ministry linked with the Rev. Ned Wight and Starr King School for the Ministry. I served with Rev. Wight in ministry and witnessed his dedicated and compassionate service to the congregation. Ned serves as a justice leader, having served on the Board of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee and currently on the Living Legacy Project. His decade long leadership in the ministry of philanthropy, as Executive Director of the Veatch Program at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Shelter Rock, moved Unitarian Universalist values out into the world and enabled significant social change. He is a faithful colleague, providing support and mentorship to fellow ministers. Rev. Wight models Starr King values through his work for justice and his commitment to deeply relational ministry. And on top of all that, Ned is a great friend.”
