“A TheoEthics: #BlackLivesMatter Movement” – January Intensive Recap

Each day “A TheoEthics: #BlackLivesMatter Movement” intensive began with a visual narrative representing one of the lost lives who are foundational to the #BLM Movement.  During our week, we engaged, humanized and centered the lives of #TrayvonMartin, #NiaWilson, #EricGarner, #SandraBland and #TamirRice. This course was intentional in de-centering white pedagogy as normative, declared #BlackLivesMatter as an unapologetic theological statement, and examined ones respective location to the call of the BLM Movement. The students also took their faith and activism to the MacArthur Bart Station, in solidarity with the World Religions class, to say the names and remember the sisters and brothers lost.

This Intensive class was taught by Rev. Ada Renée Williams and ran January 22-26, 2019.
