Today we celebrate the life and work of our late beloved Provost, Dr. Ibrahim Farajajé, known to many students as Baba. Before Ibrahim’s sudden passing in February of 2016, his wishes were to have his legacy at Starr King be a fund so that students could pursue experiential learning opportunities, like his Rumi Immersion course in Turkey.
Thus the Dr. Ibrahim Farajajé Immersion Scholarship Fund was created. The fund provides scholarships for Starr King’s innovative immersion courses. These courses take place here in the United States and abroad and they give students unique opportunities for experiential learning. For some students, however, the cost to participate in these rich opportunities can be a significant barrier. This fund helps to bridge that gap between what the student can afford and the cost of these transformative educational experiences. Due to funding and the pandemic, it has been some time since Starr King has offered immersion courses – something we hope to change soon with your help.
