We’re not sure if you know this, but November is National Scholarship Month. Graduate programs are expensive! We understand that tuition and financial aid are top concerns for those thinking about starting seminary.
At Starr King, only about one-third of our operating budget comes from tuition, while the remainder comes from fundraising. Our Advancement Team has been working diligently this year to generate more scholarships, both long-term (endowed) and current use. Endowments are created to have lasting scholarships so that there will continue to be funding for students in the future, while current use scholarships are funds available to help students that are attending now. We want to make sure that we have funds to support you!
With the devastating recent and ongoing events in our nation, now is the time to begin your counter-oppressive theological education. This upcoming Spring semester, we have over $125,000 scholarship dollars available to help students – and we want you to be one of them!
We have a variety of scholarships here at Starr King – like the Lewis Scholarship, which pays full tuition for a small number of students. We also have some that are dedicated to students in particular forms of ministry and/or chaplaincy. Incoming students don’t even need to apply for scholarships – we do it for you!
If you have been called to seminary – that call does not get quieter. Your ministry is needed in the world now more than ever.
The application deadline for Spring semester is coming up on December 1. If you have any questions about the application, we invite you to join our Director of Admissions and Recruitment, Matthew Waterman, at our upcoming Application Support Open House on Tuesday, November 26 at 5:30 pm PT/8:30 pm ET. You can also schedule a time to connect one-on-one with Matthew here.
Let us change the world…together.
