The Center for Multi-Religious Studies Names Associate Director

Dr. Som Pourfarzaneh (Director, CMRS) recently announced the appointment of Taya Mâ Shere, Starr King Assistant Professor of Organic Multi-Religious Ritual, as the Associate Director of the Center for Multi-Religious Studies.

Taya Mâ, a ritual artist embracing embodied, earth-honoring devotion as liberatory spiritual practice, has been an active faculty member of Starr King since long before the CMRS’ inception and continues to model multi-religious leadership in a diversity of settings.

In my ten years as faculty at Starr King, it has been such a blessing to water seeds of Organic Multi-Religiosity planted by our beloved provost of blessed memory Shaykh Dr. Ibrahim Baba Farajajé. And co-convening our new House of Dates series at the intersections of Islam and Judaism this past year has been such a deep joy. It is my honor to be named as Associate Director of the Center for Multi-Religious Studies, and to further support Starr King’s commitment to training and innovating in the field of multi-religious spiritual leadership.” – Taya Mâ Shere

Among a myriad of multi-religious work, she is the founder of From the Deep, an emergent mystery school of earth, sea, and soma. She hosts the acclaimed Jewish Ancestral Healing podcast and The Sarah & Hajar Series: Sacred Practice and Possibility at the Intersections of Judaism and Islam. As Associate Director of the CMRS, Taya’s primary responsibilities include the continued oversight of the House of Dates and co-coordination of the new CMRS Steering Committee.
