Starr King School Receives One Million Dollar Pledge

Starr King School joyfully announces its first $1 million endowment pledge.  In the anonymous donor's own words, "I am pleased to be able to make this bequest in support of the school's commitments to educating to counter oppressions and to creating just and sustainable communities. I am deeply impressed with the educational philosophy and practice of the school, and the effectiveness and authenticity of its graduates."

Dr. Rebecca Parker, president of Starr King School, celebrates that "this is the largest planned gift made to the school in its 108-year history.  The generosity and vision of this wonderful donor is significant.  Her gift springs from a deep knowing of the school and demonstrates the profound difference one person can make in assuring that our progressive religious values flourish."

The gift has inspired two long-time supporters of Starr King School to step forward to help raise a $2 million match.   Rigdon Currie (former SKSM board chair) and Rev. Earl Holt (SKSM 1972, and former board chair) will be making calls and visits to invite other friends of Starr King to make planned gifts.  President Rebecca Parker and Vice President for Advancement, Kelly Flood (SKSM 1990), and SKSM trustees will be making calls and visits to raise cash gifts for current needs.
