Dear Starr King Friends,
Starr King's Board
of Trustees just concluded its fall meeting and there is good news to
share. In the midst of these tough
economic times, Starr King's future
is bright. For details, read my comprehensive State of the School report. Here are the highlights: our
enrollment is growing; contributions this past year exceeded our annual fund
goal by 16%, and we are projecting a balanced budget for this fiscal year. Looking forward, we see that our strategic
goal to grow our enrollment from 70 to 100 full-time-equivalent students by
2015 will both advance our educational mission and establish financial equilibrium for the school.

If you know of a potential student who would be
a good match for Starr King's M.Div.
program or our Master of Arts in Religious Leadership for Social Change, please
talk with them about the School. Encourage
them to check out our website www.sksm.edu for comprehensive information about
our pedagogy and processes, to join our Facebook page for real-time updates on school activities and
opportunities, and to consider making a visit to the school. Your word of encouragement might make all the
difference to someone and I would be grateful to have your assistance in
helping more students find their way to Starr King's
open door.

| The world needs the kind of passionate, articulate, committed,
and skilled graduates our educational process nurtures. Our M.Div. degree grounds people in the
fundamental practices of ministry: preaching, pastoral care, religious
education, public witness, and church administration. We provide people a deep immersion in
Unitarian Universalist values, history, theologies, and worship; we foster
multi-religious life and learning, and we advance people's capacities for
religious leadership that counters oppressions and builds just and sustainable
communities. |
| Our Master of Arts in
Religious Leadership for Social Change (the M.A.S.C. degree) prepares people for spiritually and theologically grounded advocacy, activism and leadership and is especially geared to progressive people of faith engaged in social justice
work. Our M.A. in partnership with the Graduate
Theological Union prepares people for vocations in teaching and
scholarship. |
