Davidoff GA Scholarships Awarded to Starr King Seminarians
Starr King School for the Ministry is pleased to announce that four students have been awarded the Davidoff Leadership Fund for Unitarian Universalist Association General Assembly scholarship:
Julie Brock is a second year Starr King Master of Divinity students. Julie will also be at GA as a delegate representing the UU Church of Detroit. Julie says, “GA is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the polity, governance, and structure of the Unitarian Universalist faith.”
Edith Love is a first year Master of Divinity student at Starr King. Edie writes, “I have never been able to attend GA before, and I’m really excited about going to see how it all works, how our denomination governs…”
Florence Caplow is second year Master of Divinity student at Starr King. Despite a UU family background and congregational participation over the past few years, Florence has never been able to attend GA. Florence says that, “experiencing GA early in my seminary time feels like an essential, even initiatory experience.”
Jessica Clay is a first year Master of Divinity student at Starr King. Jessica is very active in her local congregation in Santa Monica and hopes to represent them as a delegate at this year’s GA. This will be Jessica’s first time attending GA. Jessica writes, “I hope to learn about how UU congregations and leaders are tackling difficult subjects such as LGBTQ rights, environmental issues, reproductive rights, and the economy.”
These four $500 scholarships are made possible by the generosity of Denise Davidoff.
