Ayize Jama Everett

Ayize Jama Everett has an extensive background addressing issues of youth engagement within the larger society. He is a writer as well as social critic and commentator. His entire professional life has been devoted to improving the lives of young people, whether it be on the streets of Oakland utilizing harm reduction techniques, or in the classrooms of some of the most prestigious secondary schools in the nation.

His professional goals include being part of transformative educational experiences for students who want to learn.

Jama Everett is a health educator and counselor at College Preparatory School in Oakland, CA. He provides regular mental health services for students and advises faculty and staff on substance abuse and mental health issues as related to students.

He was born in Harlem New York ad lived there for the first part of his teenage years. Following that he lived in New Hampshire, Avignon and Marseilles, France, and Ithaca New York before finally settling down in the Bay Area of Northern California.
